Most of us really don’t have an idea about how to really get what we desire in life. From our earliest memories we were often taught things like work first and then play. We have been taught that being busy is productive and we have learned to associate our self-worth with it. For us, to even figure out what we enjoy doing can be difficult as most of our training centers on what is wrong. On top of that, we’ve been taught that our fate lies in the hand of something or someone outside of ourselves. We couldn’t be more wrong.
Doing what you love requires the skills of listening to and following your own wisdom. It requires making yourself rather than anyone else the authority on what is good for you. Doing what you love creates passion in your life. Did you know that your life force and vitality are connected to that passion? When using your creativity, the more positive and passionate your input, the more vitality and life force you will have in your life.
Figuring out what you love in your life can be a task. Working with so many people I find that when I ask “What do you love to do? What would you do for free? What brings joy into your life?” It’s amazing how many people have zero idea about how to answer these questions. We’ve become so disconnected from our joy, that we have trouble finding it. Most people fill their time with activities that are not soul-directed, but activities of the personality which are based on “shoulds.”
I truly believe that there is a reason why you are here; you have a role to play that no one else on the planet can fill. Your deepest desires and dreams come from your soul and your soul is unlimited. Your soul speaks to you through your feelings, desires and dreams. It often time gives you pictures of what you love to do, what you think about frequently, feel connected to and are familiar with. It may be something you do in your free time or something you would do if you had more free time or money.
4 Steps to Discovering What You Love To Do
To help you align with doing what you love, try to find a common denominator and see what keeps showing up for you. Follow the simple steps listed below and discover your own answers.
Step 1: Everything you enjoy doing – every job, hobby and activity involves certain skills. Ask yourself the following questions to discover what activities you enjoy the most.
- What things do you love doing in your job?
- What are your hobbies?
- What activities do you do because you love them? For example if you are doing volunteer work or community work.
- Are you interested in writing, singing, dancing, healing, body work, or arts? Or how about organizing, leading, networking, managing, and so on?
- Do you enjoy communicating with people?
- Do you like to be creative and work with your hands or voice?
- What attracts you and excites you the most?
Step 2: Now get quiet for few moments and really think about the skills you love to use and the talents you use naturally while doing those activities.
Step 3: After looking at the skills you use or want to use, look at your desires and dreams. Your desires and dreams act much like an architect’s blueprint. Could you use those same skills to create your desires and dreams? Go beyond all limitations and rationale and let your imagination take over. The more you bring your imagination and feelings to this, the more clarity you will have about what it is that you love to do.
Step 4: As you complete these steps your soul is already beginning to find ways to bring your desires and dreams into your life. Are you ready to have it?
As I do what I love, money and abundance flow freely to me.
